The summit crater of Lewotobi Perempuan, the NW-most of the Lewotobi twin volcanoes, contains a steaming lava dome that formed during an eruption in 1921. Solfataric activity has been observed at the summit of Lewotobi Perempuan since the first report in 1821, although its only other eruption was in 1935.
