 The Hell's Half Acre lava field includes a broad, low shield volcano, with flows covering 400 km2 that were erupted over a short time period. A preliminary 14C date of 4,100 ± 200 BP (Greeley and King, 1977) was replaced by a date of 5,200 ± 150 BP from Kuntz et al. (1986).
