[ 1927 Sep 5 ± 4 days ] Uncertain Eruption

Episode 1 | Uncertain
1927 Sep 5 ± 4 days - Unknown Evidence from Observations: Reported
A large jökulhlaup accompanied by a sulfur odor came down the Jokulsa a Breidamerkursandi SE of Vatnajökull in the beginning of September 1927 and resulted in one death. Activity that resulted in ashfall on the Breidamerkurjökull may have originated from explosive activity at Esjufjöll. Thordarson and Hoskuldsson (2008) and Jakobsson et al. (2008) noted that Holocene eruptions at Esjufjöll have not been confirmed.
