10335 BCE ± 245 years - Unknown Evidence from Isotopic: 14C (calibrated)
The eruption of 70-80 km3 of tephra accompanied formation of the caldera, 14C dated to 9,460 ± 50 and 9,400 ± 50 BP (Melekestsev et al., 1988); calibrated ages for that analysis are 10,480-10,780 cal BP (Razzhigaeva et al., 2016), or 8680 ± 150 BCE. Smirnov et al. (2025) noted that Degterev et al. (2015) reported 14C ages "corresponding to the end of the late Pleistocene" of 12,260 ± 220 and 12,360 ± 170 cal BP (combined here as calendar dates 10335 ± 245 BCE).
